Terms
Service & cancellation terms
Updated 21 June 2026
These terms cover the private-chef and catering services of Umami Catering (Chili Catering, business ID 2515229-7). A confirmed booking constitutes acceptance of these terms.
1. Booking & confirmation
You can enquire via the website form, email or phone. A booking is confirmed by email or phone once the menu, date, guest count and price are agreed. A confirmed booking is binding under these terms.
2. Pricing
The price is based on the chosen menu, the guest count and the event location, and is agreed when the booking is confirmed. If the guest count changes, the price is recalculated for the new count — it is not necessarily the same as for the original number.
3. Changes & cancellations
- —The guest count can be changed free of charge when notified at least 4 days before the event. The price is recalculated for the new count.
- —If individual guests are cancelled less than 2 days (48h) before the event, 50% of those guests' share is charged. Example: on a €150/guest menu, cancelling two guests the day before is 50% × 2 × €150 = €150.
- —Cancellation of the whole booking: free of charge more than 7 days before; 50% of the agreed total within 7 days; 100% of the agreed price within 48 hours of the event.
4. Included in the service
- —Menu planning and wine recommendations
- —Sourcing of ingredients
- —Cooking and service on site, including presenting the wines
- —Cleaning the kitchen to at least the state it was in on arrival
5. Not included
Wines and other drinks, tableware (available to rent) and table linens are not included. Some items — typically wine glasses and plates that stay on the table until the end of the evening — may be left in the dishwasher, as there isn't time to return them all to their places before departure.
6. Invoicing & payment
An invoice is sent after the event, the same or the next day. Payment terms are 7 days net, with 11% late-payment interest. A request to review the service on Google is sent with the invoice.
7. Household tax deduction
The labour share qualifies for the Finnish household tax deduction when the work is done in your home or holiday home. The invoice itemises the labour and ingredient shares. The amount and terms are set annually — check them with the Finnish Tax Administration.
8. Allergies & liability
Please inform us of allergies and special diets in advance, at the latest when the menu is confirmed. We accommodate them to the best of our ability, but a range of ingredients is handled in the kitchen. We are not liable for cancellations caused by force majeure.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by Finnish law. Disputes are resolved primarily through negotiation.
